Missouri Valley Conference Media Day

Today was the Missouri Valley Conference Media Day! For those that don't know Media Day is a day in which all the teams from the conference, Men's and Women's Basketball come together to take pictures, do a whole bunch of promo/social media stuff for the conference and gives the press the first opportunity of the new season to talk with coaches & players.

This year was the first time in 5 years that the Missouri Valley Conference has invited players from Bradley University to attend. They only invite a few players each year and the past 5 years they only invited our head coach as they didn't believe any of our players were I guess "good enough to come". This year I was fortunate to be invited as well as, junior point guard Darrell Brown Jr.

We departed Peoria this morning at 6.30am before arriving at Saint Louis at 9am. Upon arrival we were greeted by a players lounge full of video games, ping-pong, pop a shot and most importantly food. However at 9.30 we were changed into player jerseys and basketball shoes and that is in essence when madness began. We circled from - tv interviews, to radio interviews, to a photoshoot holding the Missouri Valley Championship, video work in front of a green screen for the Conference tournament, to a rapid fire 'Get to know you' interview and lastly Q&A for the press.

It was jam packed, weird, but a highly enjoyable day, as we were able to showcase the improvements we have made over the summer, let everyone know about our motto 'The Arrival' and really just get to know those around the league but make our lives easier as basketball players.

This was the first major event of the new year which lets us know how close the season is and it also marks exactly 7 days until our first official practice!!!

  1. How does it feel that the Valley is showing confidence in this years team? Does it add pressure to this year or is it nice to finally get that respect?

  2. I believe its nice to get the respect as we worked so hard to gain it! This is what we enjoy doing, playing basketball and proving people wrong, so as a team there is no pressure as we all have a chip on our shoulder. However honestly its about time the Valley shows confidence in us, and now all we need to do is back it all up!
